- Document happy memories.
Whenever going for a trip make sure your camera is handy, it is charged and
memory is empty. In fact, keep a spare memory card. Take pictures not just of places
but natural candid moments of your family, your kids. Every moment is worth it.
2. Take out time for your own kind of fun.
Though you might be following an itinerary or have a places to visit list. But make sure to manage your time in such a way that you have time to do your own thing – reading,
sunbathing with the family, a walk alone with your kid or your spouse, playing some sport. Or just having ‘me time’. Remember, everyone will have more fun when everyone has his or her own share of fun, so do take out some time for yourself too.
- Let everyone have a say, especially kids!
To enjoy a family trip is like a collective team effort. You can make your and your family’s every moment of the travel stress-free and enjoyable by giving a chance to all members in the family to put forth their ideas, opinions, likes, dislikes, wants… Especially kids! Give kids a voice. Don’t forget they too are an individual like you (just a little shorter 😉 So listen to what they want to have, or want to do. Any activity that they do not want to take part in instead of that they can perhaps utilise their time doing something what they wish to do.
- Make travel comfortable.
Where you need a car, just hire one. Make sure that every member of your family has comfort otherwise the trip would not be enjoyed that well. Especially with kids and older people, you need to see that they take their regular naps, sleep well in the night, have proper food, also make sure to carry snacks etc. to keep the family stress-free. - Don’t leave in a hush.
Avoid the normal shouting ‘hurry up, hurry up!’ method. One rule that can be
followed: When you’re trying to get out the door, for every child, add 20 minutes to
the time it would usually take to accomplish any action. (The same applies to
slowpoke adults.) Set your departure time with this in mind.
6. Plan itinerary wisely.
For a place like Ladakh a couple of precautions need to be taken and any one from
any age group can go and enjoy this destination. There might be places where an
elderly or a kid might not feel like going or personally might find cumbersome in
such a case not to force your family member. But in advance foresee the situation
and create an alternative for them, if possible or perhaps indulge them in some
other activity. Simple tweaks in the plan will give everyone the freedom to do what
they want to in the trip. This will also leave everyone happy.
7. Go ahead and unwind.
The most important thing in life is to give time to your family, especially to kids.
And the best way to spend quality time is to plan a trip with your family. You get to
bond even more with your kids; they also get to see your calm and relaxed side.
Vacation is the best time where you can talk with your kids about them or life. A
vacation really means taking a break from work and routine. So have fun, enjoy the
moment. If you’re traveling with children, do pack some candies, chocolates, and
snacks. A Harry Potter audiobook will take you a long way.
