1. Who invented the word Picnic?

   
   Well, it is said that 1694 in the French language the word the word ‘pique-nique’ appeared. But the word ‘picnic’ originally stems back to 1794.

 

2. A Day for a picnic

   
   All over the world there are days dedicated for different occasions and celebrations. In the United States of America, National Picnic Day is celebrated on April 23.

3. Pot Luck
   Well, yes a picnic is just like a potluck where each guest or family contributes by bringing food to the picnic. With times this has changed a bit but the initially picnic was seen to be a fashionable social event whereby each guest would contribute by bringing food to the picnic.

4. Blame the French. For Good!
   It is said that after the 1789 revolution, the French opened their royal parks to the public so that they can stroll or sit in leisure. This is how the modern idea of picnics was first introduced.
5. Robin Hood picnicked too!
   One of the first stories and accounts that came into light about picnicking was from the tales of Robin Hood. Robin, joined by his Merry Men would informally dine on bread, cheese, and beer under the shelter of the trees.

     During the first half of the 19th century, there was a Picnic Society who would meet
in London at the Pantheon, known as a location for public entertainment in Oxford
Street.

In the year 2000, a 600-mile-long picnic was arranged in France, on July 14, to
showcase their support and celebrate the first Bastille Day of the new millennium.
