The coronavirus pandemic doesn’t seem to recede in most parts of the world. And while the scientists and researchers are trying to find a cure for it, we have to socially distance ourselves. Social distancing can seem like a huge challenge because it is quite opposite to our nature. We, humans, are innately social beings, which is why we have friends and live in a community environment. But, staying at our homes and not choosing to step out is the only way to stop the virus from spreading any further.
If you look at it, the coronavirus is teaching us more than a few things in disguise. For the longest amount of time, we have been working tirelessly, earning money, spending it on the goods we like, partying etc. And that’s how our seconds turned into minutes, days and years. Little did we ever stop in all these years to think about the ways that our planet is changing, how the little decisions we take every day are altering the bigger picture.
But, thanks to the coronavirus, the world has come to a standstill, and there is no better time to reflect upon our actions, than today. Let’s take a look at 5 things that it is teaching us.
Making Peace with Oneself is Basic
A lot of us are facing anxiety issues because we’re not used to staying indoors for such long periods of time. But, instead of having a feeling of being stuck, we must be grateful that we are at the comfort of our homes. The only challenge is making peace with oneself. Discover what you like and learn new things. This will nourish your mind and keep it positive. And once you are positive, you’ll be far calmer and composed.
Money Doesn’t Define Us
While we spend our entire lives earning money and spending a part of it to have luxuries, we now understand that it isn’t something that defines us. No matter how much money you have right now, you cannot spend it and so it’s just another one of the things that you simply own. It is imperative to have meaning in your life, which truly makes it worth living.
We Must be Mindful of Our Actions
The little things that we do every day contribute to the bigger picture of our planet. Right from choosing to throw plastic on our way as we travel or keeping the tap open as we brush our teeth. While we are quarantined, we are realizing how important is it for us to not waste our supplies, cook indoors and recycle things. This practice of mindfulness must be adopted every day of our lives.
Nature is the Most Powerful Force
No matter how advanced technologies we build or how much money we make, life comes to a standstill when nature takes control. A microorganism today is the root cause of thousands of people dying, economies crashing and people being forced to stay at their homes. We must never take the nature for granted, for we are just disappearing waves of its ocean.
Every Consequence is a Result of Our Own Actions
The coronavirus might not be man-made, but the rate of its spread across the world, is directly dependant on our actions. Many of us can’t maintain social distancing, are hiding symptoms and walking amongst a crowd infecting everybody around. While this is not something we must do, it is also the nature’s way of telling us, that the present situation is only a result of our own actions.
As humans, we must never consider ourselves above the mother nature, for nature has its ways of giving us a reality check. Let’s stay at homes and be mindful of our actions by utilizing things to their fullest and recycling if possible. After all, this planet is not just our home, but also to the future that’s yet to knock at our doors.
